AUSTIN, TX -- October 20, 1999 -- PowerLogix R&D, manufacturer of the best-selling PowerForce G3 line of processor upgrades and the first to publicly demonstrate G4 processor upgrades, today announced pricing and availability on the PowerForce G4 line. The PowerForce G4 brings the power of Motorola's AltiVec Technology (called "Velocity Engine" by Apple) to earlier PowerMacs and clones. Orders for the following models are now being accepted. Initial shipments began this week with full production the week of October 25th. "We are excited about PowerLogix being first to market with an economical, complete G4 solution," said Robin Sharp, Director of Marketing for PowerLogix R&D, Inc.PowerLogix is the only manufacturer that has a proven G4 solution for all B&W G3 owners. PowerLogix is also the only upgrade company to offer full AltiVec compatibility for Photoshop 5.5, as well as other apps that use standard AltiVec coding. Both of these proprietary software solutions have been independently tested. "This software is absolutely necessary for any G4 upgrade product---and PowerLogix is the only manufacturer that has the complete package," said Sharp.Instead of limited support of obsolete versions of PhotoShop, the PowerForce G4 offers full AltiVec support of the lastest PhotoShop version 5.5 just like the Apple G4 systems. Pricing
is as follows: The PowerForce G4 will be compatible with the standard set of Apple PowerMacs from the 7300 to the 9600; Power Computing PowerBase, PowerWave and PowerTower Pro; UMAX S900 and J700. Power Computing Catalyst-based computers (PowerTower, PowerCenter, PowerCenter Pro) at this point are not compatible with the G4 processor chip. The PowerForce G4 ZIF is compatible with all beige and B&W PowerMac G3s and "G3 All-in-One" and is also compatible with the PowerLogix ZForce ZIF Adapter.
