RELEASES CACHE CONTROL XAUSTIN, TEXAS -- April 16, 2001 -- PowerLogix announced today the public beta release of their new cache enabling utility, Cache Control X. Cache Control X is an OS X version of the popular G3/G4 Cache Profiler software for OS 9. It allows users of OS X to adjust L2 cache settings, and also set speculative addressing and dynamic power management. The settings are then automatic during boot time. Cache Control X also includes a command line interface for changing L2 cache settings.. The software works with all PowerLogix upgrade cards. (Some models of PowerLogix cards set the cache automatically and do not require software.) "Cache Control X is the first fully functional L2 cache utility for OS X. Unlike other software that allows only a specific cache ratio under OS X, Cache Control X offers all the typical options for backside cache ratio and works for both 512K and 1MB backside cache sizes," reports Robin Howdershelt, Marketing Director for PowerLogix. "Cache Control X allows anyone who has successfully installed OS X on their machines, even owners of the daughtercard style G3 and G4 upgrades, to enable their backside cache under the new OS."
