AUSTIN --October 22, 2003 -- PowerLogix continues to set the pace in the upgrade market with the announcement of the new PowerForce G4 Dual CPU cards featuring the latest Motorola PowerPC, the 7457. Running at speeds of 1.2 and 1.4 GHz, these new CPU cards have twice the L2 cache (512K) of the previous 7455-based cards (256K) for additional performance. In addition, the new 7457 draws an incredible 40% less peak power than the previous chip for cool and reliable, high-performance operation. All models include 2Mb of L3 cache per CPU. The cards are compatible with all PowerMac G4 towers beginning with the "AGP Graphics" model, up to and including the QuickSilver 2002. Series 100 cards are compatible with the 100MHz bus PowerMacs, and Series 133 cards are compatible with the 133MHz bus PowerMacs. These cards give PowerMac owners a high-performance, yet economic performance boost. Retail Pricing (street prices may be lower): $799 for a PowerForce Dual @ 1.2GHz, and $1199 for PowerForce Dual @ 1.4 GHz. Availability: first production will be shipping in approximately 1-2 weeks, with constrained supplies of the higher speed model. PowerLogix continues to be the market leader and is the first to offer this latest low-power 7457 CPU. PowerLogix continues to own 100% share of the dual CPU market for the Mac since the cards began shipping in September 2002.
